England, Bristol star launches The Genge Fund

Renowned England and Bristol rugby player Ellis Genge today announced the launch of The Genge Fund, a foundation dedicated to providing equal opportunities to children in sport and education.

Born and raised in Bristol, Genge is passionate about giving back to the community that shaped him, and the launch of this foundation is the next step in his ongoing commitment to making the city a better place for all.

“Bristol is a city of incredible potential, but too many young people are missing out… The Genge Fund is committed to levelling the playing field and creating opportunities for every child to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.”
— Ellis Genge, Founder

Genge has firsthand experience with the challenges and negative influences that can affect kids growing up in deprived areas of Bristol. Before he was given opportunities in sport, he found himself caught up in trouble with the law and going down the wrong path.

I want to show these kids that it doesn’t have to be about running around and getting themselves in trouble.
— Ellis Genge, Founder

The Genge Fund primarily aims to address the challenges faced by young people in the city, including limited opportunities, the lure of crime and social inequality. Born out of a deep-rooted love for Bristol, the 29-year-old will work on this with charities and organisations in the local area.

The foundation will focus on:

  • Mentorship: Providing guidance and support from experienced role models.

  • Education: Through financial support and rugby-inspired values, we emphasise teamwork, discipline and respect to instill valuable life skills.

  • Community Engagement: Organising events and initiatives to foster a sense of belonging.

We believe that sport and education can transform lives… Through The Genge Fund, we aim to empower young people to reach their full potential.
— Ellis Genge, Founder
